Assessment

Standard courses: mavo │ (t)havo │ (t)vwo
For all year groups, the pass/fail threshold is 5.50. In the mixed-ability classes of the first year, the threshold for progression to a higher level is 7.50 per subject, with a maximum of three marks of 7.0 (no more than one 7.0 for Dutch, English or maths). The exceptions to this are drama and music, for which a minimum mark of 6.0 applies. Grades are no longer awarded for physical education; only O, V and G are used.

Academic performance is not assessed solely on the basis of grades. The students attitude to study is assessed using letters: g = good, v = satisfactory, z = weak and o = unsatisfactory.

If a student does not meet the promotion criteria, they may be referred to an alternative form of education, following consultation and a vote at the end-of-year meeting. The promotion standards can be found on our website.

De Campus
At De Campus, no marks are awarded; instead, students are encouraged to develop as broadly as possible and to discover their talents. Whilst working, the learning coach and inspiration teachers work with the student to assess whether they are working at the right level. Progress is continuously monitored through a reflection process, enabling students to grow at their own pace. This reflection process involves the learning coach and inspiration teachers engaging in frequent discussions with the students. Assessments are also carried out (without marks) and we review presentations to gauge where a student stands in the learning process. Assessment takes place at different levels – beginner, developing and proficient.

Student tracking system

To provide a clear overview of individual performance, we use Somtoday, an electronic school information system that displays all test and exam results with dates. Both students and parents/guardians have access to Somtoday.

Students aged 18 and older can decide for themselves whether or not to give their parents/guardians access. In addition to their report card, upper school students receive an overview of the status of their exam file twice a year.

Report

The school year is divided into three terms. Throughout the school year, students and their parent(s)/carer(s) can monitor their academic progress and results via the school’s digital systems.
At the end of the school year, students receive a report containing an overview of their results. This report is provided in a report folder and remains the property of the student.

Students at De Campus also receive a report card after the first semester.
