Voluntary Parent Contribution

Training costs 2026-2027

With effect from 1 September 2023, the law on voluntary parental contributions in secondary education has been amended. The aim of this law is to reduce inequality of opportunity and to ensure that all children can take part in school activities, regardless of whether the voluntary parental contribution has been paid. Schools may still request a voluntary parental contribution for activities that fall outside the compulsory curriculum, such as excursions, trips, guest lectures and projects.

The parental contribution is voluntary, and failure to pay it will not affect students’ participation. At the same time, we greatly appreciate your contribution, as it enables us to continue organising extra activities. We regard these activities as a valuable addition to the curriculum and believe it is important that all students are able to take part in them. The Participation Council endorses this position.

For the 2026–2027 school year, we are therefore asking for a voluntary parental contribution of €95. This parental contribution is made up as follows: activities, class outings, school parties, a contribution to the parents’ council and excursions.

For some subjects and educational programmes, we ask for an additional contribution.

  • First-year induction camp → €115
  • Physical Education as an examination subject (extra activities and workshops outside the curriculum) → €50
  • Art (material costs) → €35

Bilingual education
For students participating in bilingual education, an additional fee applies for extra activities, such as Cambridge exams, English-language lessons and projects (including Model United Nations and Phileas Fogg).

The total fee (including the voluntary parental contribution of €95) is:

  • Year 1 (including the first-year camp at €115) → €290
  • Years 2 and 3 → €250
  • Years 4, 5 and 6 → €185

Payment and invoicing
In mid-September, parents/carers will receive an invoice detailing the voluntary parental contribution. If desired, you may opt to pay in instalments. For further information on this, please contact the finance department (debiteuren@silfo.nl).

Trips and exchanges
You will receive separate information and a separate invoice for participation in international trips and exchanges. The costs vary depending on the destination. For the 2026–2027 school year, you can expect amounts ranging from €425 to €725.

For these activities, a sufficient number of paying participants is required for the trip to go ahead and to minimise financial risks.

Damage
The school is not liable for damage to clothing, scooters, bicycles, bags, books, teaching materials or other items. The school is also not liable for theft or loss of personal belongings. Damage caused by your child to or in the school will be repaired at your or your child’s expense.
