Safety Policy

The school’s safety policy aims to create a safe, pleasant and respectful learning and working environment for students, staff and visitors. We are committed to ensuring this safety on a daily basis, in social, physical and digital terms. In doing so, we focus on matters such as good manners, the prevention of bullying and inappropriate behaviour, supervision in and around the school, and handling incidents with care.

Everyone involved with the school bears responsibility for safety in and around the building. Various measures have been put in place to support this. For example, staff have been trained to respond to emergencies, an annual evacuation drill is held, and there is limited CCTV surveillance in and around the building.

An important part of our safety policy is combating bullying. The school has therefore appointed an anti-bullying coordinator. Ms P. Font Freide and Ms E. Smit are the anti-bullying coordinators at our school and can be contacted via 040-264 57 77. The anti-bullying coordinator has two statutory duties:

  • to coordinate the policy aimed at preventing and combating bullying;
  • to act as a point of contact for students, parents/carers and staff regarding any questions, concerns or reports of bullying behaviour.

We believe it is important that students, parents/carers and staff feel free to share any signs of a lack of safety or any concerns they may have.

The anti-bullying coordinator can provide support and advice in this regard. Naturally, any concerns can also be discussed with the learning coach, head of department or other relevant staff members.

Staff members ensure compliance with the rules and agreements within the school. If a student fails to adhere to the safety regulations, this may affect their ability to attend lessons. Where necessary, appropriate measures may be taken.

If you have any questions about safety within the school, please contact Mr F. Bouman. The full safety policy (Dutch version) sets out all the principles, agreements and procedures that contribute to a safe school environment.
