Mavo

Secondary general secondary education
The mavo programme lasts four years and trains for senior secondary vocational education (mbo). After obtaining the mavo diploma, students can move on to the fourth year of havo
The mavo course focuses on knowledge and skills. In order to prepare students well for further education and the labour market, our teaching is geared to the students’ living environment.

Havo

Higher general secondary education
The havo programme lasts five years and trains for college education. After obtaining the havo diploma, students can transfer to the fifth year of vwo.

Vwo

Pre-university education
Vwo is the collective name for gymnasium and atheneum. Both types of education last six years and train for university (WO) and HBO.

Classical languages (Greek and Latin) are taught at the grammar school.

Bilingual education (TTO)

At our school, we offer bilingual education at HAVO (THAVO) and VWO (TVWO) levels. Both programmes combine the Dutch curriculum with a strong international focus, with English playing a key role in teaching.

In both programmes, at least 50% of subjects are taught in English during the first few years. In the TVWO programme, the proportion of English-language teaching is higher, and the pace and depth of study are at a higher (VWO) level. The remaining subjects are taught in Dutch, ensuring that students’ proficiency in the Dutch language is maintained at the appropriate level.

In both programmes, students write their profile assignment in English. In addition, personal development and global citizenship are central to the curriculum, including through projects, activities and international experiences such as Model United Nations.

The bilingual programme runs from Year 1 through to the final examinations and concludes with additional certificates. Both THAVO and TVWO students obtain a TTO Junior Certificate and a Cambridge Checkpoint Certificate (Year 3), as well as a TTO Senior Certificate. The main difference between the two programmes lies in the level of the course and in the final level of IB English: Standard Level for THAVO and Higher Level for TVWO.

Stedelijk College Eindhoven is a senior TTO school. An additional voluntary parental contribution is requested for the bilingual programmes; the amount depends on the year group.

De Campus

De Campus is a Dutch-language learning pathway within Stedelijk College Eindhoven that is only offered at our school. The programme runs alongside regular and bilingual education and is designed to ease the transition from primary to secondary school.

De Campus is intended for students who can work independently, plan well, collaborate and are motivated to do their schoolwork carefully. Students of different levels – from VMBO-basis to VWO – work together and learn from each other.

The learning pathway covers the entire lower school:

• two years for students who move on to VMBO or MAVO;
• three years for students who move on to HAVO or VWO.

As in regular education, the same core objectives and final attainment levels are worked towards. The difference lies in the way of working: at De Campus, education is organised differently than in regular classes.
