Educational goals
At the Henegouwenlaan site, we operate on the basis of a number of clear principles that guide our teaching. Five key themes are central to this:
- Curriculum development.
- A safe school environment and effective support.
- Multilingualism and internationalisation.
- The management team (MT) has adopted the World Curriculum.
- Educational technology and digital literacy.
Our vision
We have a clear vision for education: we want to prepare students not only for a qualification, but also for the world of tomorrow. Within these five themes, we strive to provide an education that is both firmly grounded in the basics and broad in scope and future-oriented. For example, we devote considerable attention to language and numeracy, work to foster a positive and safe school environment, and encourage students to develop into curious and independent global citizens.
A supportive environment for education
Our teachers work closely together to continuously improve the quality of education. They do this within professional learning communities, where they develop lessons and share experiences. In practical terms, this means, for example:
- extra focus on language-centred subject teaching, so that students understand the subject matter better;
- learning coaching, in which students are guided in planning, learning and making choices;
- challenging projects within the global curriculum, such as collaborating with external partners, work placements or international activities;
- the use of modern facilities, such as our tech lab, sports hall and outdoor grounds.
The school management ensures that teachers are given sufficient time, support and resources for this.
Quality and continuous improvement
We believe it is important that our education continues to develop. That is why we carefully monitor students’ progress and regularly evaluate our teaching. We look at what is going well and what could be improved, and apply these findings directly in practice. Specialists within the school and the school management ensure that improvements are implemented on a permanent basis.
In this way, we continue to strengthen our teaching across the five themes and ensure that every student feels safe, is well supported and can achieve their full potential.

Transfer rate
In the 2024–2025 academic year, 11% of students who passed their mavo exams progressed to havo, and 5.1% of students who passed their havo exams progressed to vwo.
Leaving school without a qualification
During the 2024–2025 school year, 3.2% of students left school without a qualification (due to moving house or progressing to further vocational education).
